We have some amazing news to share!
Zoona has crossed a big milestone in the history of our business and for mobile money and financial inclusion in Africa!
Our Agents, across Zambia and Malawi, have processed over $1 billion in money transfers, bill payments, and other financial services!
World Bank statistics show that over 80% of people in Africa are still financially excluded.
Since launching in 2009, Zoona has grown into a vital lifeline for those that want to send and receive money – and have limited safe ways to do so. Today, our entrepreneur agents serve more than one million customers every 60 day, across close to 1,500 locations. Our iconic green booths have become a staple across the landscapes of Zambia and Malawi.
This is a big moment for Zoona – a company that was born from a conversation in a text message conversation between Brad and Brett Magrath, our Zambian-born founders. We are thrilled by the support our Customers, Agents and Tellers have given us in reaching this milestone!
Since 2009, over 2,500 jobs have been created – and our Agents have earned close to $10 million in commissions.
This latest milestone – $1 billion processed is a highlight on our continued journey of bringing financial inclusion to Africa.
